Abstract

We propose a high-power handling and compact antenna switch circuit based on a new adaptive-charge-pump-circuit topology (ACPC). The ACPC consists of two internal charge-pump voltage-generators and a voltage-averaging circuit, which enable gate-voltage to be adaptively controlled in both off-state and on-state FETs. This circuit results in a smaller chip that has very highpower handling while maintaining great performances for insertion-loss, switching time, and harmonic distortions. The SP3T switch IC we developed for GSM demonstrated a handling power of 37 dBm and an insertion loss of 0.4 dB at 1 GHz with a chip of only 0.64 mm2.
