N2 - In this paper, a systematic approach to design an H∞ controller for a multi-machine power system is presented, incorporating all possible noises and modelling errors and also the effect of interarea oscillations in the design stage of the controller. A single machine controller considering the interarea effect and using speed as a sample signal, gives the desired performance. The results of the conventional PSS are also shown for comparison.
