Abstract
We are presently developing A Survey Simulator to Evaluate Safety Systems (ASSESS). This report describes the program structure of ASSESS and the algorithm for the driver model that simulates the driver's behavior (recognition, decision-making, operation). The functions of the driver model are to grasp the position of other agents, estimate the risk of a collision with visible agents and output the amount of operation to avoid a collision. The reproducibility of ASSESS for real-world traffic flow is verified based on the traveling time through the intersection. The results showed similar distributions of the intersection travel time determined by the two methods, hence the traffic flow created by ASSESS accurately models the real-world traffic flow.
