Abstract
This article describes a simple, analytical expression for the operating speed of SCFL D-type flip-flops in terms of steady-state sinusoidal analysis. The analysis considers the output voltage swing variation caused by the fluctuation of the threshold voltage. The flip-flop maximum operating speed (fOPmax) has a linear dependence on the cut-off frequency (fT), and the large standard deviation of threshold voltage reduces the/OPmax. This analytical result agrees well with the experimental results.
