Abstract

This paper proposes an automatic design method for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) which satisfy required output characteristics, the maximum torque, the maximum speed and the maximum power with taking account of motor efficiency. In the proposed method, a rotor radius is a key parameter because all of motor configurations are decided by the rotor radius. Therefore, a selectable rotor radius range which satisfies required output characteristics is calculated by a numerical calculation. This paper proposes a selection method of the rotor radius which satisfies high efficiency requirement at any point in the driving range.
