Abstract
A novel phenylmaleimide monomer having sulfonimide moiety was synthesized. Partially sulfonamide-functionalized polymers (si-PPMS) with different equivalent weights (EW) were synthesized by copolymerization of the novel monomer, N-phenylmaleimide, and styrene. The polymers were characterized in terms of proton conductivity, thermal stability, hydrolysis stability, and oxidation stability as PEFC electrolyte. Advantage of the sulfoneimide group as ionic group will be discussed.
