Abstract

A TDMA (time-division multiaccess) terminal for satellite communication systems is proposed. A transponder hopping function has been realized using only a single modem and synchronization unit for each reference and traffic TDMA device, reducing cost significantly. The advent of these general-purpose TDMA and modem LSIs, MICs and HICs has made it possible to reduce the hardware size of a TDMA terminal to one-fifth of a conventional one and to drastically increase reliability.
