Current‐induced domain movement in high‐Tc single crystals

Using the high‐resolution Faraday effect (HRF) technique the domain movement induced by a transport current is observed directly. Under an applied external field, flux from the sample edges is removed and is shifted into the crystal. Applying a transport current to a remanent state causes only two channels located at the sample edges. The movement of domains of Shubnikov phase for various transport currents is investigated. The domain patterns and the current‐induced behaviour for DyBaCuO and BiSrCaCuO single crystals are compared. The influence of a reversed current on the domain patterns and the shutting off of the current is also studied.
