Development of an integrated task/ambient air conditioning outlet evaluation of a single-fan outlet through actual office measurements

Abstract

To understand how task air conditioning is operated in actual offices during the summer, we investigated the characteristics of worker behaviour and collected worker responses to a survey regarding the thermal environment. The results show that the air velocities in the occupied zones in the office mostly exceeded the development target of 0.8 m/s. Experimental results demonstrate that task air conditioning, which gives individuals the ability to adjust their environments, is an effective method in workspaces that contain diverse work styles and staff.
