Abstract
The purpose of this study was the development of a magnetically-controlled laminar proportional amplifier (MCLPA) controlled by electric current to an electromagnet using "Magnetic Fluid" as the working fluid. Referring to the laminar proportional amplifier (LPA), the MCLPA installed the electromagnet at a position of control ports was made. Experiments were made on the static characteristics of the MCLPA to confirm its applicability for an electrical to mechanical transducer. As for the electromagnets, the bar-type and the E-type electromagnet were used. The width of a main nozzle of the MCLPA was 1 mm, aspect ratio and control edge angle were adopted as the parameter of MCLPA. The experiment was made under a constant fluid temperature at 60oC, and the relationships between supply pressure, pressure recovery, and output pressure of the MCLPA were observed.
