N2 - This paper is concerning with application of nano-laminated DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating to stamping dies. Different from the conventional DLC coatings by PVD (Physical vapour Deposition) methods including arc-ion-plating or CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) methods, this selection of DLC coating enables us to be free from adhesive wearing during dry sliding experiments and also be free from perfect delamination even in severe dry stamping steps. Using these DLC-coated tools, every stamping process advances without any troubles until the first 50,000 strokes. After stamping, each punch and die surface was closely checked to prove that no delaminating and no damages were found. Further 50,000 strokes were continuously applied in dry without stops. Even after continual 100, 000 strokes, no damages were seen on the coated tools and dies as well as on products.
