Abstract

Mechanical properties of bulk Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors tend to deteriorate with increasing their dimensions. Resin impregnation has been found to be effective in improving mechanical properties of bulk Y-Ba-Cu-O. In the present work, we studied the effect of resin impregnation on the trapped field and the levitation force of single-grain Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors 100 mm in diameter. It has been confirmed that field-trapping capability and magnetic levitation ability are greatly improved with resin impregnation.
