Abstract
We investigated the effect of Y2Ba4CuMO10 (M = Zr, Sn and Ce) addition on the superconducting properties of melt-textured Y123 bulk materials. Melt-textured Zr-doped Y123 bulk materials were fabricated from the mixed powders of Y123 and Y2Ba4CuZrO 10. As an initial attempt, Tc of the sample exhibited a low value of 86 K. However it was improved to be 90.5 K by addition of a small amount of Pt. The dispersion of fine Y2Ba4CuZrO 10 inclusions was observed in the melt-textured samples. The critical current density was enhanced with increasing the amount of Zr-phase particles. The Y2Ba4CuMO10 (M = Sn and Ce) added Y123 bulk superconductors were also fabricated and their microstructures and superconducting properties were investigated. When the Y2Ba 4CuCeO10 was employed, BaCeO3 particles were dispersed in the melt-textured bulk samples.
