Abstract

A new multilayered circular-patch antenna fed by an electromagnetic coupling method is proposed. This antenna realizes good impedance matching to a feed line. From experimental results, one observes that the bandwidth is 3.05%, which is 1.4 times wider than that of a conventional circular-patch antenna of the same parameters. The resonant frequency of the proposed circular-patch antenna fed by the proximity method was 1.13 times higher than that of the conventionally fed patch. The bandwidth of the proposed circular-patch antenna fed by the aperture-coupled method was 1.98%, and this bandwidth was 1.2 times wider than that of a conventional circular-patch antenna.
