Abstract

This paper proposes the method that estimates rotor position error from the active and the reactive power in PM motors, and introduces the results of the fundamental simulations in vector control without rotor position sensors. The proposed method is based on system identification theory, and calculates the position error from the parameters that are obtained by a recursive least square calculation. The least square model equation was formulated from the equations representing the active and the reactive power. The simulation results proved the validity of the proposed method.
