Abstract

We designed a persistent current switch (PCS) consisting of Nb3Sn superconducting wire for superconducting magneto-hydro-dynamic propulsion ship (MHDS). Two different PCSs with the capacity of 1 and 3 kA were fabricated and subjected to the measurements of current-carrying capacity, the stability against the vibration, and the switching performance. We confirmed that the both PCSs have high enough capacity and the stability against the vibration, so that they can be used as the PCS for MHDS.
