Abstract

The method of determining the priority of retrofitting of existing buildings in Japan, the actual state of the implementation of such retrofitting process as well as the method of prediction of earthquake damages in each prefecture in Japan are presented. The recommendation of utilization of base isolation systems is also introduced together with the basic concept as fundamental approach towards the next code.
