Abstract
We discuss a locking range of a tunable optical transmitter using side-mode injection locking. The transmitter discussed here is previously proposed and the tunability is realized to apply side mode injection locking using a Fabry-Perot laser. One of the important characteristics is the locking range of a slave LD and its dependence on side mode m. We measured the locking range as a function of m for four 1.55 μm LDs. The measured locking ranges are discussed considering the relation between the injection power required for a single-mode lasing and the side mode m.
