Abstract
The magnification of an image is important and general purposed method for image processing. The typical conventional methods for image magnification are the nearest neighbor, the bi-liner interpolation and the cubic convolution. These methods often generate a blurred and unclear magnified image because spatial features included in an image are not used. This paper proposes a new magnification method by using the spatial features in an objective image that are the gradient direction and the gradient strength by pixel. The experimental results show that the clear magnified images were generated by the proposed method in comparison with by the conventional methods.
