Abstract

This paper proposes a novel slipring-less winding-excited synchronous machine and shows its characteristics calculated by FEM. The proposed machine is based on the principle of permanent magnet vernier machines. The proposed machine is characterized by the following structure: the rotor has no any magnets and is with only some small slots, and the stator has armature and DC field windings in the stator slots. In the calculation, the performance of speed vs. torque satisfied a required specification to HEV. Although the efficiency must be improved, it was obvious that the proposed machine has good property for HEV.
