Abstract

A new analysis method for the surface state of particles was studied. The state of adhesion of SiO2 particles onto Y2O 2S;Eu particles, obtained under different adhesion conditions, was examined by plasma emission spectrochemical analysis and by evaluation of the hydrophilic property of the powders. It was found out that this evaluation method was quite effective for understanding the relationship between the quality of coated film and the surface state of particles in a suspension and for controlling the coating process for forming pixels of display devices such as cathode ray tubes (CRTs).
