Abstract

New granular modeling has been proposed and developed to make simulation of powder compaction for flowability evaluation. To realize the computer aided design for powder forming, a granular simulation system has been created: Preprocessor to provide adequate granular model alignment, Numerical solver to trace time histories of element configuration and stress transfer, and Postprocessor to evaluate the calculated results. For numerical examples, several densification and compaction problems have been selected to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of our approach.
