Abstract

Slide-ring gels were prepared by simply subjecting aqueous solution of polyrotaxane, composed of polyethylene glycol and cyclodextrins, containing small amount of photoinitiator to UV light for several seconds photocuring. The photocrosslinkable polyrotaxanes were prepared by introducing acrylic or methacrylic groups to the cyclodextrins threaded in polyethylene glycol. Therefore, crosslinking occurs only among α-CDs, leaving the PEG chains free to slide through the cavity of the α-CDs.
