Abstract
Two currently used models which explain the penetration of the lubricating oil from the micro-pool that forms at the sliding- contact interface into the zone of direct contact between the tool and the workpiece material during plastic working and which establish the involved boundary lubrication conditions and mechanisms are presented in this work. One model is based on the microscopic plastic flow lubrication mechanism proposed by Mizuno, Kudo and Azukishima in which the outflow is explained by the dynamic effect. The second proposed model is based on a static permeation outflow mechanism in which the outflow of the lubricating oil from the micro-pool is attributed to a static pressure. (from Authors)
