Abstract
We have investigated the effect of undercooling on the growth rate and Nd-Ba substitution for the Nd-Ba-Cu-O/Ag system in air. It was found that the growth rate along the c-axis was larger than that along the ab-axis. The range of Nd-Ba solid solution was also affected by undercooling such that Nd substitution was suppressed with large undercooling. A high Tc of around 94 K with sharp superconducting transition was achieved in the sample melt grown with large undercooling in air.
