Research on different cooling methods for multi-junction solar cell

Under three different cooling methods, such as without cooling method, passive aluminum heat sink and composite heat sink system, the output characteristics of GaAs multi-junction solar cell under different concentration ratio were tested and analyzed based on the method of sun-light sources simulation. The experiment results show that the test results consist with the I-V characteristic equation. For the concentration ratio of 500, the cell efficiency under composite heat sink system is 34.30%, which is 2.79% higher than that under passive aluminum heat sink and 4.03% higher than without cooling method. The analyzing results show that GaAs multi-junction solar cells need cooling device. The composite heat sink system can be used for concentration ratio higher than 100, and the passive aluminum heat sink can be used for concentration ratio less than 100.
