Abstract

This paper describes the vibration responses of a single carriage from a linear roller guide. These responses were detected by an accelerometer and were analyzed by an FFT analyzer. From the experimental results, it was found that the number of rollers contacting the carriage raceway governs the resonance frequency. In addition, the surface profile of each carriage raceway was measured using a surface profile measuring instrument. It was determined that the raceway surface profile may also influence the resonance frequency of the carriage.
