Safety analysis for electro magnetic intensity of medical use UHF band passive RFID system

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Nursing environment is front line of medical scene. In most of medical scenes, patients are cared by nurses. Safety level of the patients are kept higher, if the nursing environments are assisted by effective systems. From view point of informatics, human errors can be reduced by effective individual identification and integrated management of patient information in sick ward. For example, human errors can be avoided by replacement of the present bar-code in medical scene to RFID tags, since hands-free identification is available. There are safety guide-lines for passive RFID system. However, actuary dangerous level of electro magnetic intensity by the passive RFID system is not analyzed. In this study, the dangerous level of the system is analyzed. In the result of experiments, it is shown that the present UHF band passive RFID system is not dangerous in generally medical scenes.
