Abstract

The radiation characteristics of a series-fed loop array antenna are investigated on the basis of the numerically determined current distribution along the loops and feed line. The loop array antenna can radiate a circularly polarized (CP) wave with an axial ratio of 0.2 dB in the normal direction, having a gain of 14.9 db. The frequency responses of the axial ratio and gain in the normal direction are discussed. Calculations showed that the beam squint with frequency is within 0.7° in a 3% CP wave bandwidth.
