Abstract
The authors propose using extended message sequence charts (E-MSCs) for describing the service specifications of the advanced IN. The E-MSCs are used to represent the service procedures between the network and users. The authors previously proposed using the E-MSCs for describing general service specifications. By adding new descriptive elements, they can also be used to describe the service specifications of the commercial advanced IN. The authors have modified a specification description system to support the description of new E-MSCs and have used it to describe several examples of service specifications for the commercial advanced IN. It is verified that the new E-MSCs can be used to describe the items required for generating service logic programs of commercial services.
