Abstract

As home network system and service are becoming popular, plural systems have been introduced to a home network. Each home network system owns individual devices, actuators, and sensors, and doesn't share function of device each other. It increases system introduction cost. This paper proposes architecture and versatile device which are shared by plural systems to reduce cost and improve interoperability. The versatile device is called Smart Outlet (SO) in this paper. The SO has plural sensors and actuators which are shares by plural systems. For example, power saving system uses brightness sensor of SO, and fire prevention system uses temperature sensor. The proposed system introduces SO management software to easily use SO. The SO management software becomes interface among SO, user and external services. The SO management software responses XML format data when external service sends requirement parameter on HTTP protocol. The proposed system is working as integrated interface between appliances and home management system. This study designed and evaluated the system architecture and functions.
