N2 - MRI equipment has important role in medical diagnosis. In MRI examination, MRI equipment generated high level sound which the maximum sound pressure level was over 100dB on the examination table. The influence of the MRI for temporary potential hearing loss of the patient was researched [1]. However, there was is little analysis data of MRI driving sound. This paper shows the spectrum analysis of the driving sound in 3-tesla MRI equipment inside and outside the bore. The driving sounds were measured the driving sounds of Slice positioning (SP), Reference scan imaging (RS), T2 weighted imaging (T2W) and Echo planar imaging (EPI) that these were used in medical diagnosis. The maximum value of the center frequency of 1/6 octave analysis and the level of equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure level (L Aeq) of SP, RS, T2W and EPI were 115 dB at 1250 Hz, 101 dB at 1000 Hz, 106 dB at 630 Hz and 111 dB at 800 Hz respectively. Each maximum value was measured in the case of T2W and SP that the position was 40 cm and 50 cm, RS and EPI was 120 cm on the space of the examination table. It is shown that the patient who was examined the head or the knee heard the same level in case of same sequence. It is clear that inside and outside the bore, the patient hears peak frequency of the driving sound between 630 Hz and 1250Hz.
