Abstract

Two monoliths of single grain Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors were successfully joined with Er-Ba-Cu-O superconductor, which was sandwiched by two Y-Ba-Cu-O plates. Microstructural analyses revealed that no segregation of the secondary phase and/or the residual liquid phase was observed at the joint with two (1 1 0) surfaces. We also found that we can produce a strongly coupled joint for Ag added Y-Ba-Cu-O blocks using a sintered Er-Ba-Cu-O/Ag bar as a welding reagent.
