Abstract

Freshwater is a corrosion environment because it contains low concentrations of electrolytes. Behavior of corrosion and cathodic protection in freshwater are little understood, so it is difficult to perform electrochemical measurement in high resistance solutions. In this study, corrosion behavior is analyzed using AC impedance spectroscopy which is suitable for low-concentration solutions, enabling its use in freshwater with the aid of a two electrode cell. The corrosion behavior of pure iron, pure copper and stainless steel are analyzed at a steady state.
