Abstract

Expanded p-conjugated coordination complexes, [M(L2)2] (M = Cu2+, Pd2+, and Pt2+; L2= dinaphthoylmethanido-), were prepared and the different metal characteristics were found due to the supramolecular associations: [Cu(L2)2] shows a remarkable M2+?p interaction (3.249 Å) inducing the cationicity of Cu2+and the strength of the interactions clearly decreases for the Pd2+and Pt2+ions (3.785 and 4.610 Å), indicating their electron-rich and nucleophilic characteristics.
