Abstract

Since Japanese society continues to age rapidly, we must help elderly people live safe, peaceful, and comfortable lives by considering the usability of such industrial products and environments as IT devices, home electric appliances, public devices, and public facilities. However, usability evaluation methods remain unestablished because little research has addressed usability for elderly people. In this paper, we surveyed recent research on the usability of industrial products for elderly people in Japan and classified it and the usability evaluations. We identified future necessary research directions.
