The activity and carpenter group of the Fujii family in Sado island at the early modern age

Abstract

The Fujii family including Goroemon is a carpenters from Edo to the Showa era that did a lot of building activities based on the Hamochi region in the southern part of Sado Island. The carpenters acts for the nearby period of 300 years, and has left a lot of works. Moreover, it is thought that the Fujii family was organizing carpenter group as a master builder. This thesis is consideration of the building activity and the carpenter group of the Fujii family based on the historical records obtained by the investigation.
