Abstract

Undrained monotonic compression tests were carried out on the very loose reconstituted gravelly soil specimens with different gravel content. The shearing behavior of specimens which were prepared at very loose state by the same energy of tamping is discussed. It was observed that very loose gravelly soil specimens show contractive behavior in a wide range of gravel content. The observed behavior is explained based on the void ratio of sand and gravel portions.
