Abstract

The wavelength dependence of fiber skew in a single-mode fiber ribbon is investigated for determining the system parameters of the previously proposed high speed LANs named as Para-Wave NET. Theoretical investigation of the wavelength dependence using the variational analysis is made for fiber ribbons with the assumed fiber parameters. Experimental investigations are also made using 16-, 8- and 4-fiber ribbons. These studies clarify that the wavelength dependence of fiber skew is very small.
