Abstract

This paper describes our current work in the design and development of web-based 3D reconstruction and visualization frameworks for medical data and presents a design framework for web-based 3D visualization and interaction for medical data. We implement a web-based 3D medical data visualization application with X3D technology. The web-based X3D framework integrated with a modular approach can extend cross-platform and inter-application data transfer ability and support run-time architecture to represent and communicate 3D scenes and objects. We also present the adaptability of a Web3D standard to visualize and interact with 3D medical data without a special extension.
