A 1.6-2.2 GHz Continuous Class-F Power Amplifier with Compact Harmonically Controlled Networks

抄録

A continuous Class-F power amplifier (CCF PA) with a compact circuit size is presented. The harmonically controlled network (HCN) of CCF PA is required to meet the continuously varying load impedance conditions. Since the HCN has to cover an extremely wide frequency range, from fundamental frequency up to the 3rd harmonic frequency, a large scale LPF has been conventionally used. We show that, by using a CRLH transmission line to control the harmonic frequencies, the size of the LPF can be significantly reduced. A 1.6-2.2 GHz CCF PA was fabricated using 10-W GaN HEMT, demonstrating high-efficiency bandwidth at the state-of-the-art level.
