Borderless interface for user authentication method tolerant against multiple video-recording attacks

In this study, we discuss a language-independent interface for user authentication methods focusing on the personal identification number-entry method which is abbreviated to PIN-entry method. It is a basic method and occasionary used as a remedy when other authentication methods fail. For user authentication, tolerance against shoulder surfing or video-recording attacks is the main research objective. In these years, researches have followed two major approaches: (1) the usage of haptic information and (2)the usage of auditory information while secretly transmitting information from the system to the users. The usability of the system depends on how to transmit secret information to the users. This study discusses authentication using auditory information. The interface of a system using auditory information should not depend on a certain language. This study proposes an authentication method using sound, which is independent of any specific language. The conventional methods using vibrations are also independent; however, they require long operation time. In the proposed method, the system that requires rather short operation time, and maintains concrete tolerance against multi video-recording attacks, where its interface does not depend on a certain language, is developed. Such a system could have widespread application all over the world.
