The BCI (brain-computer interface) extracts information from user's brain activity which is elicited by specific tasks. The EEG-based BCI using evoked potential or P300 have been successfully used by paralyzed patients to realize virtual keyboard for character input or menu selection system. In such systems, however, the target brain activities are elicited by the presented sensory stimuli or their sudden changes. On the other hand, the BCI based on motor imagery has been highlighted because it can be controlled by user's mental process, and no external sensory stimulus is required. In this article, my studies related to EEG-based BCI which achieves the direct control by user's explicit and implicit mental process are introduced and discussed.
