N2 - Mg2Co was successfully synthesized by the solid-state reaction from Mg and Co powder mixture via bulk mechanical alloying (BMA) and annealing. The sample was analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). Hydrogen absorption and desorption behavior was described by pressure-compositionisotherms (PCT). In the temperature range of 633K there are two plateau pressures in the pressure region of 0.6~3MPa in the absorption isotherms and only one plateau pressure in the desorption isotherms. XRD patterns of the alloy hydrides revealed the presence of Mg2CoH5.
