N2 - In this work, we objectively compared various Kawaii fashion styles that can be observed in Japan. In addition to our previously collected Harajuku-type Kawaii fashion database, we collect three kinds of traditional and contemporary “Kawaii” fashion images: Classic, Orthodox, and Street. To clarify the positions of these styles objectively, we compare the saturation and Colorfulness of the collected fashion image. From the comparison of the saturation and Colorfulness, we found that Classic and Orthodox are the most similar, while Street is slightly different. Meanwhile, all three styles are significantly different from the Harajuku-Type Kawaii in terms of saturation and Colorfulness. This finding confirms the observation of fashion expert that Classic and Orthodox are somehow similar while Street can be different. Meanwhile, Harajuku-Type Kawaii is very distinct from other Kawaii styles, as investigated before in our previous works.
