This paper describes a newly developed self-contained intelligent mobile robot for indoor security guard purposes. This robot consists of a locomotion module with wheels, an ultrasonic range finding module for environment recognition, an ultrasonic and infrared sensor module to detect humans and fires, an extinguishing system, an speech system to warn intruders, and a camera system to take pictures. It also includes a computer system to integrate those sensors and effectors, and batteries for a power source. A radio communication channel augments the ability of this self-contained robot. The size of the robot is 60 multiplied by 60 multiplied by 100 cm and the weight is 60 kg.
