N2 - The purpose of this research is to develop a sensing system which continuously measures contact-distribution on a two-dimensional plane, to develop a sense recognition system component to be used in applications in the medical field such as a bedsore prevention system, which requires the quantitative measurement of the sense of touch. Using this system, we obtained the pressure distribution beneath a subject in a sitting position and its variation as a function of time, and the changes in posture of normal subjects in the state of sleep. We confirmed that this system satisfies the basic requirements for a bedsore prevention system.
