N2 - An addition of Si induces a shape memory effect (SME) in Fe-Mn system. But Mn concentration is also an important factor governing the SME of the system. This is because the phase and magnetic transformation temperatures are affected by chemical compositions markedly. In this study the relationship between phase and magnetic transformation temperatures and the SME was investigated. To obtain a good SME it is necessary to control the Ms temperature and Neel temperature. For accomplishing this we need control of a combination of Mn and Si concentration.
