We investigated the microstructure and superconducting properties of the Nd-Ba-Cu-O with 0-1.0 wt.% ZrO2 and 0-2.24 wt.% BaZrO3 synthesized by the oxygen-controlled melt-growth process in 1% O2-Ar atmosphere. The microstructure of Zr-added NdBCO was not homogeneous, and one could observe the segregation of Nd422 particles, the residual liquid phase including the agglomeration of BaZrO3 particles and the Nd422-free regions. Such inhomogeneity is caused by the strong influence of BaZrO3 on the solid/liquid interfacial energy during the melt growth.
