N2 - A closed-loop test was conducted using a variable response vehicle that could actively control the front and rear wheel steer angles. With varied combinations of yaw and lateral acceleration response times to a given steering wheel angle, the test examined how drivers' control performance was affected by changes in vehicle steering response during a lane change, a direction change and S-curve driving. The findings indicate that the desirable steering response differs with driving conditions.
